Alva “Reed” Roberts, beloved father and grandfather, went household to our Heavenly Father on Sept. 26, 2021, shortly in advance of his 88th birthday. Previous him in death was his spouse, Sue Mavis Selling price Roberts, and son, Leslie Reed Roberts.
Reed was born on Nov. 10, 1933, to James Holly Roberts and Marie Laura Smedley in Pryor, Oklahoma, the seventh of eight small children. He was the very last of his siblings to go.
In Oklahoma, Reed developed his enjoy of horses when performing the family farm. The spouse and children moved to Visalia, California, in 1945. Reed and Sue ended up portion of the first graduating course of Mount Whitney Large College in 1951. The large college sweethearts have been married on Aug. 7, 1952, in Visalia. They loved above 60 superb years collectively. They experienced a few youngsters, Holly Roberts Masiel, Leslie Roberts and Curt Roberts.
Reed worked with his spouse in their business as ARCO distributors for 8 many years in Visalia. They also labored their modest walnut ranch just east of Visalia. Through this time Reed started restoring classic automobiles and tractors, specializing in T-Birds. This included Sue’s beloved red T-Chicken, with the license plate SUES T. They had been very associated with the regional T-Bird club, attending shows, profitable many awards, getting to be nationwide-degree judges. This curiosity ongoing right after retiring to Sonora in 1994. Soon after Sue’s death, Reed moved back to Visalia, in which he ongoing to sustain his automobiles, journey to sites he experienced read about in his expansive collection of background books, and enjoy the enterprise of his loved ones.
Reed is sorely missed by his youngsters, Holly and Curt sisters-in-legal guidelines Nancy Robinson, Connie Starling and Margie Evans brother-in-law, Bob Starling and son-in-law, Javier Masiel. He is lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Stephanie Whitt, Michael Barsoum, Suzanne Hernandez, Amanda Barsoum, Samuel Barsoum, Jessica Greer, and their spouses. He will also be missed by his many great-grandchildren, companion Vannabeth Trout, and lots of beloved family customers and mates.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 13, at Salser and Dillard Funeral Chapel. A assistance at the Visalia District Cemetery will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday Oct. 14.
