Man dies after setting himself on fire in front of Supreme Court building
A male established himself on fireplace in front of the U.S. Supreme Courtroom on Friday evening, a court spokesperson explained, though emphasizing that there was no threat to community basic safety.
The Metropolitan Police Department determined the male as Wynn Bruce, of Boulder, Colorado. On Saturday, police stated he died from his accidents.
According to the court docket spokesperson, the incident transpired at about 6:30 p.m. Minutes afterwards, a medical helicopter landed and took the guy to a community hospital.
No one else was hurt, the spokesperson said.
The place was shut to the public after the Supreme Court docket Police, U.S. Capitol Law enforcement and Metropolitan Police Department responded at the scene.
“The location continues to be closed for even more investigation, but this is not a community safety issue,” the court spokesperson stated in a statement.
The Supreme Courtroom was not in session at the time, and Congress is in recess. The Capitol is straight across the road from the Supreme Courtroom.
Capitol Law enforcement tweeted about the incident Friday evening, indicating the helicopter was responding to a healthcare crisis and that there was no menace to others.
